The school was brought into being in 1948. From the moment of rise it has been having entitlements of state school. At the beginning it was a research institution educating in elementary and secondary school degree. Double gradual character was kept till the 17th of February, 1967. In the same time our research institution - by the decision of the commission of Education's Department - was decided into two independent institutions:

• The Primary School number 9 (dissolved in 1972)
• The 2nd Secondary School

The importance of the school was underlined in 1960 when it was given a name of St. Wyspianski. In connection with this event parent-teacher association founded a standar.
